Stored assumptions, card mix and program rules all change the number. Here is what the calculator is and is not doing.
How accurate is this calculator?
These figures are estimates based on the numbers you enter and labeled assumptions. They are not quotes or guarantees. Your actual card mix, fees, program rules and customer behavior can change the result. One recent processing statement lets us replace the assumptions with your actual numbers.
Why does card mix matter?
Surcharge programs typically apply only to eligible credit-card transactions. Debit and prepaid cards are treated differently under card-network surcharge rules. Dual pricing and cash discount programs are structured differently, so the same card mix can produce a different estimate. Card mix is one factor, not the only one.
Can surcharge offset all of my processing cost?
Not usually. A surcharge cannot be applied to debit or prepaid cards under Visa and Mastercard surcharge rules, and not every credit transaction is automatically eligible. State, processor and program requirements can also change what can be recovered. The estimate shows a modeled offset, not a guarantee of full recovery.
Can dual pricing or cash discount eliminate every processing cost?
No. These programs can offset a portion of current processing cost depending on the approved program, processor, card mix, equipment, customer behavior and pricing setup. The calculator does not assume remaining cost falls to zero.
What if I do not know my debit and prepaid percentage?
Choose I don't know and the calculator uses a clearly labeled conservative assumption instead of pretending it has your actual card mix. The assumption is shown with the results. Your statement is still the way to replace it with a real number.
What if I am already getting a good deal?
Then the honest answer may be to stay where you are. This page estimates potential cost recovery. It does not assume you should switch processors or start a surcharge or dual pricing program.
